On Sunday, 4 October, friends of Juraj Kušnierik will gather in Reykjavík at Smekkleysa, a record store, café and live music venue that Juraj loved to visit. Smekkleysa is an Icelandic music organisation founded in 1986 by members of The Sugarcubes and their friends. There we will unveil a memorial plaque to Juraj, which will stay at Smekkleysa permanently. The event is open to everyone who knew Juraj or would like to remember him. It will be held in Slovak and English.
🕓 4–6 pm Icelandic time (6–8 pm in Slovakia)
📍 Smekkleysa, Hverfisgata 32, 101 Reykjavík
4 pm Meet at Smekkleysa, with a DJ playing Icelandic music that Juraj loved
4:20 pm Short speeches (Sigtryggur Baldursson, Dušan Šándor, Daniel Pastirčák and anyone else who would like to say a few words) and unveiling of the plaque bearing Juraj's name
4:30 pm Music at Smekkleysa (live or DJs), with time to mingle and share stories about Juraj
6 pm The official part ends, but everyone is welcome to stay and keep sharing memories of Juraj.
