Hutt Street Centre Fundraiser with Slava and Sharon Grigoryan

Trinity Sessions, Church of the Trinity and The Effective Living Centre present Slava and Sharon Grigoryan with Nancy Bates. This year our annual fundraising concert will be supporting Hutt St Centre. All proceeds from the concert will help Hutt St Centre with their mission to end homelessness: through addressing immediate needs such as offering a shower, a meal, or a phone recharge; providing access to over 20 visiting services, ranging from Government services to health and wellbeing supports; connecting people to housing, education and employment opportunities, and advocating for systematic change and amplifying the voices of those experiencing homelessness.

The success of any collaboration is dependent on a myriad of factors, some obvious, others less tangible. Sharon & Slava Grigoryan are an example of such a synergy, resulting in music that connects deeply with the listener. Perhaps it is their union professionally and in life that provides the intangible factor fuelling their passionate and sensitive performances.

With guest Nancy Bates a First Nations composer, writer, educator, and proudly Barkindji. From 2013 to 2017, Nancy completed a musical apprenticeship under the mentorship of renowned Song Man, Uncle Archie Roach.

Through the ‘Songs Inside’ film project, Nancy teaches ukulele and songwriting to women in prison, giving them voice, and freedom of expression within a colonial punishment system.
