Amplifying History A conversation with Christopher Juul Friday, 12:00 -- Børsen, Horten For more than twenty-five years, musician, vocalist, and producer Christopher Juul has explored how cultural heritage, music, technology, and storytelling can come together to create contemporary artistic experiences. As founder of Lava Studios in Copenhagen and composer, producer, and bandleader of Heilung, Christopher's work continually crosses the boundaries between music, film, theatre, and large-scale live performance. Having performed on stages around the world for more than two decades, he has developed a perspective on how artistic ideas evolve from closed studio spaces to open stagefloors. Alongside Heilung, Christopher has founded and developed projects including Valravn, Euzen, STOI, and Songleikr, produced artists such as Myrkur, Garmarna, and Kati Ran, created music featured in productions including Vikings, Game of Thrones, Ragnarok, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, and designed the sonic identity for Mute Comp.'s internationally acclaimed dance theatre production Grasping the Floor with the Back of My Head. His work also spans mastering, filmmaking, live production, and creative development, always exploring the relationship between sound, storytelling, technology, and cultural heritage. As founder and director of Saga Music ApS, Christopher and his team develops and produces large-scale live productions while collaborating with companies such as Meyer Sound to explore how immersive technologies, including Dolby Atmos, can shape the future of live performance. He has also contributed to more sustainable touring through initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of international productions. Christopher is currently producing the complete relaunch of Nebala, led by Jonas Lorentzen, overseeing both the forthcoming album, mixed in Dolby Atmos, and the band's brand new live production, premiering on Midgardsblot's main stage on Saturday. Hosted by Martin Skou, Head of Productions at Saga Music, this conversation explores how artistic projects rooted in cultural heritage are developed---from the first spark of an idea to the moment the curtain rises. Rather than focusing solely on composing music, the discussion follows the wider creative process: storytelling, production, visual identity, filmmaking, technology, artistic identity, sustainability, leadership, and the many decisions that shape a project's identity long before an audience experiences it.
