Iceland Airwaves Festival is the world’s most northerly music showcase and industry festival
UK-based music artist.
Daði Freyr is an Icelandic singer, songwriter, and producer known for his witty lyricism, infectious synth-pop, and joyful unpredictability. He rose to global attention with his 2020 hit "Think About Things", which went viral during lockdown, earning over 100 million streams and praise from P!nk, James Corden, and Russell Crowe.
His new album Too Much, Not Enough, out May 8th, marks a new chapter. Co-written with collaborators for the first time, it's his most emotionally honest work yet: a record about self-acceptance, about being who you actually are rather than who you think others want to see.
After years in Berlin, Daði returned to Iceland in 2025, and that sense of coming home, of settling into something real, runs through every track.
This autumn, Daði brings his live show to the US and Canada. Performing alone on stage with self-built instruments and hand-crafted visuals, it's an intimate, one-of-a-kind experience and the connection with his audience remains, as ever, the thing he loves most.

After they released their first song via Soundcloud, Any Young Mechanic went viral straightaway. As rapid as such things are in our age of social media, the first notes of this band sound relaxed and, despite everything, maintain a pleasantly low-key vibe. ‘There's A New Place On The Market’ is nonetheless a rugged, wonderfully arranged and just utterly charming intro for a young ensemble that plainly puts its heart and soul into making music with no airs or graces. This is no longer a given in these times. Anyone who can connect to the bittersweet art rock of Wilco, the baroque chamber folk of Fleet Foxes or the yearning indie of Big Thief will absolutely want to listen to Any Young Mechanic. Anyhow, this band already has plenty of potential. Happily, they are also bringing fresh material with them for their Reeperbahn premiere.

Dove Ellis is a songwriter and performer from the west of Ireland. In the UK and Ireland’s ever-accelerating music scene, genres are dissolving faster than ever before, and Dove is a prime example of this shapeshifting Next-Gen. His writing goes from soft acoustic ballads to hammering bass lines to visceral, ambient soundscapes – all kept tight and cohesive behind his high tenor croon. Dove has been spreading word-of-mouth with notable performances, and now, debut single To The Sandals has delivered on all the promise.

Flesh Machine is an indie/alternative band based in Reykjavík Iceland that blew up in the underground scene in late 2022. Flesh Machine is the brainchild of Kormákur Jarl Gunnarsson as an expression outlet while he was living and studying in Berlin and as a coping mechanism for his depression and anxiety. After he moved back to Iceland he decided to expand that Idea by adding members and forming a band: Baldur Hjörleifsson and Lukas Zurawski on guitars, Jón G. Breiðfjörð on drums, and Viktor Árni Veigarsson on bass.
The band performed its debut show in August 2022 and has been active in the Reykjavík music scene ever since, always performing for fully-packed venues and festivals including Norðanpaunk, Lunga and off-venue Iceland Airwaves. The band’s first single, released in January 2023, was very well-received and even caught the attention of Anthony Fantano, who hosts the YouTube channel “The Needle Drop, ” giving the single a good review. Flesh Machine won an award for the music video to their song “Problems,” at the 2024 Stockfish film festival. That same video also got nominated at the 2024 Muvid awards in Peru, competing in the same category as Harry Styles and Jungle. In the year 2025 the band got nominated at the Reykjavík Grapevine Music Awards in the category “Ones To Watch”. The same year the band played their first concert outside of Iceland, on the first edition of the showcase festival Music Week Poland, held in Warsaw, Poland.
The creative world of Flesh Machine draws musical influences from The Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode, Brian Eno, Tears for Fears, and David Bowie. The band is also influenced by the creative mind of David Lynch. The essence of Flesh Machine is blending two worlds of flesh, representing warmth, emotion, and humanity, and the Machine which represents the cold, mechanism, and synthetic. Blending acoustic and electronic sounds to create music that explores the human experience, depression, and the dark corners of the human psyche.
Vision: Flesh Machine is currently working on their debut album “the Fool” and has already released four singles that will be featured on the album. Flesh Machine aims to boost their image to reach an international crowd.

Heartworms, the brainchild of musician and poet Jojo Orme, is a cauldron of perplexity. Orme’s gothic take on avant-garde post-punk is beguiling; sardonic prose is delivered in a deceptively innocent manner, while irresistibly off-kilter grooves clash with a cacophony of reverb-drenched guitars. Dystopian. That’s the first adjective anyone ever used to describe south London auteur Heartworms, after the project was brought to life by its architect Jojo. Heartworms is the conduit for Jojo’s entire identity – her laying down a purposefully discomforting challenge to the outside world.
"Hér" in Icelandic means “here”. It is a very clear calling from the band to the audience: be here, experience, be inspired, it is happening now, and it is the essence of participating in our artistic expression. The band was formed in Gdańsk, northern Poland. Five independent, strong musical personalities met "here" – in a specific place and time – to create 'communitas' that are both unique and harmonious. The music they propose carries the listener to 11th-century Old Norse wisdom and poetry.

At just 24, Jamie Duffy has emerged as one of Ireland’s most compelling new artists, blending folk, classical, and contemporary influences into a sound that’s both intimate and cinematic. His debut single Solas became the most streamed debut by an Irish artist since Hozier’s Take Me To Church, with over 135+ million streams on Spotify, 27 million YouTube views, and 7.3 billion views on TikTok.
In 2024, he released his debut EP On A Wing, sold out his first Irish headline tour (2,600+ tickets), and supported Andrea Bocelli and Hans Zimmer at BST Hyde Park.
In October 2025, he released his highly anticipated debut album Jamie Duffy. Crafted over two years between wild coastlines and still nights across the two awe-inspiring landscapes of Ireland and Iceland, the album reflects Jamie’s rural Monaghan roots, shaped by changing environments, Irish folklore, love, light and trepidation. It is a true labour of love and effort rarely known by those in their early twenties, but for Jamie, it was a journey he’s been working towards for some time. While evident themes of nature, journey, light and hope spring forward from early listens, the messages within the album, will hopefully, be different for everyone.
Alongside the album, Jamie has scored his first feature film 500 Miles, (starring Bill Nighy and Maisie Williams) due to be released in 2026. Reuniting with his album producer Atli Örvarsson at his home studio in London, the project highlights the creative strength and synergy between the two collaborators.

Joe and The Shitboys are a band of “bisexual vegans” from the Faroe Islands. How do we know that? Because it’s the very first thing they say on stage at Gaukurinn, the cult venue in downtown Reykjavik on Saturday night (November 9). The venue is beloved by its attendees for several reasons: the food menu is Vegan-only (and delicious), and the establishment only features gender-neutral bathrooms. Mammút are melodic and catchy and beautiful and addictive. They are also darker and heavier than you think they are—maybe they tricked you? This is true though: Mammút craft distorted and beautiful lullabies while maintaining a solid grasp on melody and an eternally independent spirit.
Mar Pujol is a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Catalonia. Mediterranean stylistic traces can be sensed in her music, which is often based on a restful pop, with folk nuances. An earthly and ethereal proposal driven by the simplicity and rawness of a voice and a classical guitar. Her first full-length, Cençons de Rebost, came out in February 2024, a compendium of melodies that aim to preserve fragments of our everyday life. Live she is supported by Bruna González on cello.

Since their start in 2012, five-piece Oyama has been building a steady reputation as one of Reykjavík’s finest rock bands. Their sound is rooted in the shoegaze of the 90s, and their music pivots between soothing, airy dream pop and fuzzy, psychedelic noise rock. The band reaches high sonic peaks and awakens deep sensations with its mixture of spacious, noisy soundscapes, tender vocal harmonies, and lyrics built on a solid foundation of teen angst and enduring friendship.
Oyama have released two LPs (‘Coolboy’ and ‘Everyone Left’) and two EPs (‘I Wanna’ and ‘Opaque Days’). They have performed at showcase festivals and events all over Europe, including Iceland Airwaves, Eurosonic, by Larm, The Great Escape, Club NME, Ja Ja Ja, and Air D’Islande, as well as playing to packed audiences in Japan.
Jonas Šarkus audiovisual artistic project "punktò", reached its first high point with his debut album QQ. The LP introduces listeners to the world of the Lithuanian artist, and accompanying themes like the dark side of humanity, plus adding a dose of sharp irony. From the very beginning, the goal of the project was to create dialogue with artists from different fields, and the discovery of new art forms. Music videos for the singles Ne Daiktai and La La La have been praised and recognized at awards events around Europe.

Loops, samples and synths, weaved together and layered with a beat made from the sound of a squeaky chair. This is the soundscape that carries Róshildur’s melancholic but often humorous lyrics, sung in Icelandic. Her live sets are ever changing, looping her own voice, synths and saxophone, experimenting with ways to convey her thoughts.
Róshildur is the musical alias of the Icelandic/Danish performance artist Anna Róshildur. Róshildur’s alternative pop is a blend of melodic, stacked vocals and textured production. With her debut EP, titled (V2,2), she showcases herself as a songwriter, producer and performer. Róshildur was crowned the One to Watch at the 2024 Reykjavík Grapevine Music Awards.
RSP is one of the hottast acts on the Faroese music scene, getting a Faroese Music Award for best new act. Their debut single "Send mær meira pengar" becam an instant hit, and just last week was chosen radio hit of the year.

SCAM is Reykjavík’s newest sonic experiment, making their debut at Iceland Airwaves ‘25. Hollywood film composer and producer Herdís Stefánsdóttir joins forces with Salka Valsdóttir, producer, songwriter, and founding member of the hip-hop collective Daughters of Reykjavík. Together, they unleash a wild fusion of electronica, dance, pop, and hardcore techno. Raw, unpredictable, and immersive — SCAM takes you on a journey of all the senses.

Them Flying Monkeys are a 5-piece band from Sintra, Portugal, who have established their own underground niche with precision melodic rock, an atmospheric sound seasoned by a degree of experimentation. The band has gained notoriety for their passionate and visually arresting live shows. In 2025, the group released their long-awaited third LP — a bold, genre-bending record that merges their hard-hitting rock identity with a new electronic direction.

Valborg is a talented singer / songwriter who lives in the countryside of Iceland.
virgin orchestra is an experimental post-punk band from Reykjavík. The band combines post-punk with electronic music, dreampop and noise. The members’ diverse backgrounds lends the band a unique sound – the combination of the live instruments of guitar, cello, bass and vocals; along with programming and experimental soundscapes.
In May of 2023 the band released their debut album ‘fragments’ which was met with great reviews and was chosen to be Album of the Week on the national radio station of Iceland. Following the release they did a short UK tour and an album release show in Harpa Concert Hall the following autumn.
🐦📖🌾 𓆱 Authoring fence-hopping billies and rabbits affright, the hopes of honouring Wonderment; a magic lost to us who have grown, and a promise made to the child we once were. “Meadowlark” is a diary-turned-storybook penned by writer and illustrator Keath Ósk as a means to portray oneself through melody-given apologues, performed by a cast of characters drawn from their own childhood, a medley of perspectives from then and the now and the who they wish to become. They voice to perform in their stead to remark on narrative, and with it offer parables played in song. To sing of fables retold and unsung, truth to make-believe, fostering the very same aria that brought them to existence; our ability to wield wonder.
